June is a prolific month for Bartels' Racing Program for back to back winning of #28 Shaun Russell and veteran #9 Jay Springsteen. Shaun Russell from San Jose California, was crowned as the New Dairyland Classic Champion at Sheboygan County Fair Park, Plymouth, WI on June 3, 2005. Russell grabbed the all-important holeshot, then fended off Team Suzuki, Flat Tracks /Parts Unlimited 's Kevin Varnes and Saddlemen's Jared Mees for the win. Russell actually waved off what would have been the fastest time of the night at 17.028; his second effort wasn't nearly as quick at 17.191. Russell quickly recovered from his time-trial gaffe by claiming the first Pro heat-race win. Prior to this event, Shaun Russell led at least one lap at the AMA Ford Quality Checked Flat Track Championship at Springfield Mile, IL on May 29, 2005.
Then veteran Jay Springsteen finished third in the AMA Ford Quality Checked Flat Track Championship held at New York State Fairgrounds, Syracuse, NY on June 19, 2005. It seems that the tips shared by Jay Springsteen with Shaun (shown above) were effective. "Hooray to the Bartels' Race Team!".
