Shaun Russell contests the AMA Ford Quality Checked Flat Track Championship Series. He races for the Bartels' Harley-Davidson Racing Team. Shaun has been on the Bartels' team since 1996, when he was hired as a rookie, to contest the 883 Sportster performance series. In his first year he finished 11th in the Sportster Performance Series Championship. Shaun was runner up in the championship in '98 and '99. In '99 Shaun also began competing in the 750 ranks. This is the top class in Flat Track racing. In '99 he finished 21st in the series standings. In 2002 and 2004 Shaun finished 10th in the championship race. And recently, in June 3, 2005 Shaun was crowned as the New Dairyland Classic Champion at Sheboygan County Fair Park, Plymouth, WI

2005 brought some changes for Shaun and the Bartels' racing team. With the new mechanic , Greg Crow, there was a bit of an adjustment period, as Shaun and Greg learned to communicate with each other. All the while, everyone was excited and expecting good results to come. As the half way point of the season gets near, Shaun is currently 6th in the points race.

Aside from racing, Shaun stays very active. "I am always looking for something to do." I spend a lot of my time on a motorcycle, whether it's trail riding with my buddies, or testing for the races to come. I also spend some time teaching at American Supercamp, which is a Flat Track based school that teaches people the basics of Flat Track, as well as riding in general. I like to watch football, as I am an Oakland Raiders fan. In the off season I spend my time snow boarding, watching football games, and preparing for the season to come.

Shaun can often be seen wandering in the showroom at Bartels' Harley-Davidson. "I like to keep up on what's happening around there, and in the Harley world. I have also met a lot of nice people that I consider friends, since I have been involved with Bartels' Racing.
