Jay started riding when he was 9 years old in his parents front yard on a M50 Harley®. He ran his first race that same year and received a third place finish. After that, it's history, he's been racing professionaly for 30 years. Jay is one of the favorites of fans in the history of AMA Grand National racing. He has raced nearly every class of dirt track and road racing. He also traveled overseas to race dirt track and road racing. Although much of his career had been plagued by a stomach problem he has continued to beat it and still going strong. On the off season Jay enjoys hunting, fishing, snowmobiles, ice and trail riding. His brother Charlie is ice racing and three nephews race. He has one daugther, Amanda and married his long time friend Judy in 2000, and they currently reside at Lapeer, Michigan.
